So I realize I’ve been in Bath for two weeks now and still haven’t written anything about this place. My initial impressions: rainy, cold and a very depressing place. But then the weather cleared up and after some exploring, I’ve decided that Bath is an amazingly beautiful place to be (and not at all like London which is a whole other story).
Angela and I are both staying in the cheapest student accommodations in Bath - Pulteney Court. You really get what you pay for. It reminds me of Jester except I get my own room and live in a flat with 4 other students. All my flatmates are really cool so sharing the kitchen & 2 bathrooms with them is great. One major downside though is there’s no elevator. I had to get someone to help me lug my suitcases up since I live on the 3rd floor (well technically 4th floor but the 1st floor is called 0 here). The photo makes it look small but my room is surprisingly big for one person.

But the real problem is this. Check out this “awesomely designed” British sink. You can only either get scalding hot water or freezing cold water but trying to get warm water is nearly impossible. I’m prepared to pay a handsome reward for anyone who can solve my dilemma…

The view from my room is super nice. I live right across from two pubs and can see the church spires from the city centre far away.

Sooo onto the food. English food is pricey & not very tasty, but there are quite a few little shops that serve pretty decent sandwiches for a good price. Aside from all the touristy English restaurants, Bath also has quite a few Thai places! The best meal I’ve had in Bath so far is with Angela at this restaurant called Thai Balcony that Rick Steves recommended. It’s located right above a local Sainsbury’s store, and there’s another Thai place right around the corner.

Apparently, the restaurant doesn’t open until 6 pm for dinner so we loitered about in the city centre before coming back as the first guests of the day. Both of us ordered the pad thai with prawn, and it was super delicious. Not a bad way to end the day!
